Trip to the Terror House

As I'm slowly catching up with my last few weeks in Hungary, I am realizing that I forgot so many things that happened!! One of my favorite excursions was to the "Terror House" in Budapest. It houses exhibits on the Nazi and Communist regimes in Hungary - in addition to the Socialist and Hungarian KGB-type group. I have been to a LOT of museums in my life, and I have to say that this was one of my top 5. It was well organized, and had a great atmosphere that let made you feel like you were actually in a terror house- especially the music that you heard. Having said that, I should point out that the building this is in was once the Nazi headquarters in Budapest.

At any rate, you couldn't take pictures inside, but it was REALLY a nice museum and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. Some Hungarians, while glad that it's a source of pride in Budapest, believe that too much money was spent on it that could have been used in better places- at least that's what some of my students said.
