Salad Bar contest

Pictures of the winners "healthy" torte, the 11C salad display, the 10B salad, a very intricate salad, and our 9A Greek salad with Anna and Dori.

Wednesday was an interesting day at school.  There was a school wide salad bar as set up by the students.  Each class was to make a salad – the focus was on healthy foods, so it had to be a healthy salad – of course Dori was in charge.  She made a Greek salad, and Anna (another recent addition to the running group) made Greek sandwiches.  During the first break, each class representative went to the third floor theater and set up their salad.  Here, people would come and judge the salads based on presentation, taste and healthiness.  During the next break, others could come and try any salad they wanted, and get the recipes that they wished for.  It was really quite something.  There were over a dozen and a half salads you could try, and it was quite interesting to see what they came up with for healthy ideas.  During the 5th break, the winner was announced.  It was funny to me because for the top three classes, their prize was none other than… a cake.  Though I was told it was a fruit cake (raspberry torte) so it was healthier than chocolate cake… hmm.  Interesting logic.
