Advent fair at school

Last week, on a random Wednesday, during the 4th break between classes, there was an “Advent” fair.  Two ladies brought in crafts that handicapped children had helped to assemble and were selling them in the hallway.  It was quite interesting to see the things that they had – including dried orange slices and apple slices (which are used regularly to decorate for Christmas here).  I sent 1000 forint with two of my 9th graders and had them buy me the most Hungarian things there.  They came back with a bag of apple slices, and a jar of plums in red wine.  Should be interesting.  My school is so strange some days!  But it was to my advantage – truly Hungarian crafts that benefit a good cause.
