Finally settled in Vienna...

After the garden, Justin was in charge of the map and we headed to the hotel. There we met Peter, a flamboyant Italian who spoke about 45 different languages. He greeted us warmly, and kept talking to us for over 20 minutes. He was welcoming and showed us the sights we should see, and then launched into his opinion of the United States, Americans and the US military. He stated that people who served in Iraq or Afghanistan basically became nutty and couldn’t function afterwards. They couldn’t finish school, and found it hard to function in society as a result of having been in combat. Now, standing next to me was a veteran of Iraq, who was on his way to Afghanistan and who is in within spitting distance of finishing his degree. Eff you Peter, but Justin handled it well and didn’t say anything. We dropped our stuff off and headed out to see the rest of Vienna. We went to St. Stephen’s cathedral and on the way saw some of the most fascinating art I had seen in a long time. This guy was kneeling down on the street, painting pictures using nothing but spray paint. They were honestly some of the most intriguing images I had seen. We watched him do two whole paintings and decided we had to leave before we bought one (Justin really wanted one, and I thought about buying one for him the next time I was there... but then he'd have to get it home). After wandering a bit more, we had a nice dinner of sausages and wiener schnitzl and called it a night, returning to the hotel.
